IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Due to the great demand to be a volunteer, we can unfortunately not give you a commitment for a job. You are still welcome to register. We will put you on a waiting list and will contact you if you can get involved!

In the following form you can register with your personal data and the dates of your possible working days. In addition, you can specify your interests and experiences in the field of volunteering so we can put you in the team.
Please give at least 3 and max. 5 areas in which you are interested. 7 working days are required. Of course, more days are welcome and will be rewarded accordingly

Accreditation

Each athlete, official, volunteer and media representative needs an accreditation to enter the accredited areas. The accreditation office will be the first contact of our guests with the Nordic World Ski Championships. Thus, it is your task to friendly welcome these people, to check their data and to issue the accreditations. We are working with an online accreditation system. So it is important that you are used to work with a computer and you can fluently speak English and/ or other languages. You should also be communicative in this area.
Clothing

Each volunteer gets the official World Championship outfit. In this area you are responsible that all volunteers get their outfit in the appropriate size. You are responsible that only accredited people of the World Championship Team get the outfit. At the same time you have an advisory role for our international volunteer team. For this reason you should speak German as well as English.
Child care
i
Here the children of spectators have the opportunity to warm up, to play and to do handicrafts. Furthermore, there is a opportunity to change a baby´s diaper. As a volunteer at the day nursery, it is your job to be there as a contact person for the parents and to inform about the possibility of the day nursery. You also look after the children during the event. To help in this area you should be openminded, reliable, a team player and of course you should have fun to look after children of different ages.

Parking spaces while the Nordic World Ski Championships must be coordinated well. In this team you are responsible for all parking tickets. You plan the distribution, take inquiries and issue them to the right persons.

We are looking for strong men and women for our infrastrucutre team who will support us. If you also like to tackle, you have craftmanship and can use machines, you are here in the right team. From back-work while setting and destruction, snow removal, material transports to fencing. You are always there where support is needed.

Race office skijumping, cross-country and Nordic combined

In the race office (cross-country, ski jumping and Nordic Combined) you are responsible for all administrative tasks. You check the received announcements, inform and support the teams and officials, you deal with start/ result lists and start numbers, you prepare the team capatain´s meetings and collect all logs and documents for documentation. To support the race office you should be permanently available during the competitions and when the teams arrive (around the 21st of february). You should be used to office work and be able to deal with MS Office. English and if applicable another foreign language would be important.

Cross country stadium

In this area you are responsible for all tasks in the cross-country stadium. On the one hand, you will take care of distribution and return of the transponders, help with the distribution of numbers, the set-up/ conversion and cut-back of the stadium area as well as the fine preparation of the stadium. It would be important that you have a talent for handicrafts and can even handle a cordless screwdriver and cordless motor-saw. You should be weatherproof, flexible and you don´t mind working early in the morning or later in the evening.
Cross country course
i
Optimal track and slope conditions are the basis for successful competitions. You are pat of the course team and you are responsible for all works on the World Cup trails. Installation, modification and removal of route markings, signing of the trails, marking of the coaching/service/ catering stations or the split times. Your tasks are also the best possible preparation through the route with snow rakes and shovels. It would be goog if you have craftmanship, you can handle cordless screwdrivers, motor saws and leaf blowers. You should be weatherproof and flexible in use (shift works in early morning/ evening).
Cross-Country data and time processing

In this area you have a major role in cross-country skiing in terms of data and time processing. You support Swisstiming during the installation and destruction of the timekeeping on the entire route. During the competitions you will be responsible - together with another volunteer- for the various control positions at the split-times to announce the backups and document checklists. In addition, you are possibly responsible for video recording for technic control. For this reason it would be advantageous if you have cross-country skills. Overall it is a very interesting and demanding area, where you certainly don´t get bored.
Skijumping inrun

In the area of the inrun you are used as a snowblower. You are mainly used when it is snowing. Your job is it to work with your team to clear the inrun of the snow. Therefore, you should be physically fit and have no fear of heigths.
Skijumping start
i
In this area you support the team in the area of the inrun. If necessary, you and your team will be responsible for moving the gate as well as supprting the material control at the start. For this reason it is important that you are physically fit and you are free from giddiness.
Technical control
i
In our team for the technical control you are directly in the competition. Your task ist o check that the competitions are carried out in accordance with the rules, to film selected key points with a colleague in order to see alleged breaches of rules and to send these video sequences to the responsible LOC for checking. In order to support us in this area you should ideally come from the cross-country sector, be a trained referee or be willing to participate in this training and be able to recognize breaches of rules. It is also important that you have no problem with the modern technology (smartphone, tablet, whatsapp).

Als Vorläufer eröffnest und beendest du die Wettkämpfe und sorgst dafür, dass die Athleten optimale Bedingungen vorfinden. Du solltest in der Lage sein, die anspruchsvollen Anstiege und Abfahrten der WM Loipen in klassischer und freier Technik zu bewältigen. Im Idealfall bist du Langläufer mit Wettkampferfahrung im Renn- und Volkslaufbereich und immer noch im Training. Solltest du mind. 16 Jahre alt sein, dein Material eigenständig präparieren können und die Eigenschaften Flexibilität, Verantwortungsbewusstsein und Teamfähigkeit mitbringen, melde dich bei uns als Spurläufer.

As a distance measurer your job is it to identify the athletes expanse in your assigned measurement zone. Following you pass it tot he writer. For this you should be physically fit and stay always focused.

The athlete lounge is a very sensitive area. It is a retreat and resting place for the athletes before, during and after the competition. Therefore it should be accepted and respected by our volunteers. The main task in this area is to keep the lounge clean, to answer questions of the athletes in a competent and friendly way, to keep an eye on the catering station and to refill it if it is necessary. It is important that you speak English fluently and you ensure professional behaviour.
Turmhexen/ Loipenfeen

Our „Turmhexen“ and „Loipenfeen“ are working in the background and are responsible for the wellfare of the athletes and media representatives. You will help at the coffee bar, in the kitchen to prepare food for the athlete and media catering and finally to distribute the meals. In this area you have to work clean and with a smile.

The main work in this area takes place before the official start of the Nordic World Ski Championships. Support in the disguise of tribunes and fences is also part of this area as attaching the spectator signs in the stadiums. Experience in this area is definitely necessary and beneficial, as well as craftsmanship.

OC-Shuttle

The OC-Shuttle is responsible that athletes, officials, media representatives and guests arrive safely at their desired destination or that material comes to the right place. In this area will be worked in two shifts (about 8 h). You have to be at least 25 years old to support the OC-Shuttle. Furthermore you should enjoy driving, speak fluently English, have a good orientation or as its best you have local knowledge. It is also important to have a companionable relationship to each other so we can act as a team to contribute a successful event.

You don´t need any special knowledge for this area. A local knowledge is an advantage to provide information to our guests. We also expect an openminded and friendly interaction with our visitors because they will have the first contact with you at the Nordic World Ski Championship. The main tasks are caring for he parking lots. This includes checking the parking permissions, selling parking tickets and to instruct the cars in the parking lots.

The safety area is for everyone who is looking for variety. You will take care of the cross-country competitions of the Nordic World Ski Championships. As a volunteer you take tasks in the sports and accreditation area. You are in the access and accreditation control of the athletes and officials as well as in the start,- finish and racing area ,you help at the instruction of the parking spaces in the sports area and you will have safety tasks at the award ceremony.

This area is important to guarantee a smooth process. Your task is it to controll the accreditations. So only the persons with the right accreditation can enter the specific areas of the stadium. In this area you should be friendly and communicative and at the same time steadfast and confident.
Access-control

There are various entrances to the stadiums. Here you can support our professional security service. You have to check the tickets and accreditations of visitors. In this area it is really important that you like to work with people and to have a confident and friendly appearance.

The award ceremonies will be an important part of the Nordic World Ski Championships. The team of the hostesses are looking for girls between 16 and 30 who are responsible for handing over the prizes. You should have a friendly and discreet appearance and it shouldn´t be a problem for you to stand on the stage. It will be also important that you are communicative and team-minded because you are in constant exchange with the ceremony team.
Supporting programme

You are supporting us in the preparations and implementation of the supporting programme. You have a look that everything works well at the event venues and inform the respective contact persons in case of problems. You will also help with the implementation of the international youth camp. You can also help the team ceremony if necessary. For this, you don´t have a problem in dealing with personalities and a good sense of communication.
VIP

You are cheerful, helpful, polite and have a confident demeanor? Then sign up to support our VIP area. You take care of reception, warderobe, seat instructions and talk to our protocol officers in advance. Ideally, in addition to English, you will speak (one) other foreign languages.
Ceremony

As important as being on stage is the work done behind: You support us e.g. with the preparation and implementation of the flower ceremonies in the stadiums, manage the hostesses and take care of them, support the production of the medal ceremonies and help us with last-minute technical and logistical issues. For this, you should be communicative but discreet, have a hands-on mentality and be willing to work flexible hours.

Our media Team is responsible for the support of all media representatives in the main press center as well as the sub-press centers in the ski jumping and cross-country stadium. The daily supply of information about the Nordic World Ski Championships, such as weather reports, start and result lists and schedules, as well as the issue of photo-bibs, writing of reports and short press releases (journalistiv background would be an advantage) are your tasks. In addition the media team takes care of the up-to-dateness of our homepage duing the event with up-to-date reports, picture and other information which are relevant to the media representatives.

For the Nordic World Ski Championships we are looking for reliable, conscientious and secretive chaperones. If you are at least 18 years old and in the best case you have a medical education (e.g. as a paramedic, nurse,…), you are the right person for this job. As a chaperone you will accompany an athlete who is assigned to you. You will accompany the athlete from the finish line to the doping control station. Your task during this time is to pay attention to “your“ athlete permanently. So a falsification of the samples can be avoided.
Doctor

You would like to support the World Championship team and show your knowledge as a doctor at one of the major sports events of the year. With your registration make shure that you are a doctor or specialist, you fullfil the additional title “emergency medicine“ or “emergency medical service“ and wheter you are currently actively working as a doctor. Another requirement is that you have completed a course in AHA/ERC or ITLS/PHLTS.
