To conduct save competitions during the Nordic World Ski Championships in both of our stadiums (ski jumping, cross-country), we prepared a lot of organizational measures and regulations to ensure the safety of volunteers, athletes, trainers, officials, and the OC and our volunteers. All participants have to be conscious that in spite of all taken measures the risk of infection with the Coronavirus still exists and cannot be totally excluded.

In the following you will find some FAQs all around the situation of COVID-19 during the Nordic World Ski Championships Oberstdorf 2021. Circumstances and guidelines are subject to constant dynamics so that there can be changes at any time.

Will the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships take place in 2021?

Yes, the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships will take place without spectators.

Before the NWSC

Do I have to show a negative Corona-test?

All accredited persons – including volunteers – have to show a negative Sars-CoV-2-test. This test will be carried out on site 48-24h before you enter the event site. The LOC will pay the costs for this test. A follow-up test must be performed every 4-6 days (you are flexible here).
There is no test required to pick up accreditation and get dressed at the Volunteer Center. Here we work with a hygiene concept.

How does it work with the testing stations in Oberstdorf?

Shortly before your assignment, the LOC will send you a link to register yourself for a test and to find all important information about. .You can use it to register for a test slot. The result will automatically be entered into the accreditation system and can also be found online.
The test centers can be reached on site and are signposted.

How long does it take till I have my results from the Covid-test?

This depends on different factors. In the case of our own test tracks, the result will be available in any case before you enter the event site. If you have the test done at another German test center or at your family doctor's office, you have to make sure that you get the test result in time.

I cannot do a test at the test stations on site. What can I do?

If on-site testing is not possible, you also have the option of having a PCR test at a recognized testing center in Germany or by a recognized general practitioner. The test result must then be sent to the following e-mail address for verification and activation of the accreditation: covid19@svg.ski . Nevertheless, we ask you to use the test stations on site if possible. This guarantees the timely and automated transmission of the test result.

Do you accept international tests?

No. There are only allowed german tests.

Do I have to be tested for Corona before my arrival?

According to the latest development, you don´t need a 7 day PCR-test before your working time. The test 48-24 hours before entering the event is mandatory.

What do I have to consider to get a valid accreditation and to get access to the event site?

In addition to an actual negative Sars-CoV-Test you have to fill out a document about your health, testing, etc. each day. Not till then you get access to the event site. For that you just have to scan the QR-code on your accreditiation. Here you can fill out the document digitally.

My state does not allow a PCR-test if I have no symptoms. What can I do?

Unfortunately, we cannot force the responsible health office to initiate a test. However, we can send you a personalized letter which explains the obligation of this PCR-test.

During the NWSC

Do I have to wear a mask during my commitment?

It is compulsory to wear a mask on the entire event site! The mask has to be worn tightly. Depending on your place of action and contacts you have to wear a “normal“ mask or a FFP2-mask. Masks will be provided by the LOC.

Are there tests during the Nordic World Ski Championships?

Yes, you will be tested for Corona Virus every 4-6 days on site. Here you are flexible and can decide by yourself when you want to do the follow-up test (after 4,5 or 6 days).

I have a medical certificate, which excuses me from mandatory face masks. Is it valid?

Medical certificates, which excuses from mandatory face masks, will NOT be accepted.

Is there a minimum distance (1,5 metres)?

You must keep the minimum distance of 1,5 m on the entire event site. Please pay attention to hold this distance on the way to and from the stadiums (arrival, departure) as well.

What can I do when I feel sick?

If you feel sick or you have symptoms which suggests COVID-19 (fever, cough, cold in the head, sore throat, loss of taste and smell, etc.), please stay at home. Access to the event site is prohibited.

No, the organizer doesn´t assume responsibility in case of hygienic pain.

What happens if I get tested positive during the Nordic World Ski Championships?

In case of a positive test result, you will be informed by the health department. After that, the quarantine must be started immediately. If you arrived by car, you may drive directly home and start quarantine there. If you arrived by public transport, you have to spend the quarantine in Oberstdorf in your accommodation. In this case, the additional costs cannot be covered by the LOC.

Travel restrictions

I am not from Germany. Do I have to go into quarantine after entering Germany?

As of November 8, 2020, as a matter of principle, foreigners entering or returning from
abroad who have stayed in a risk area within the last ten days before entering the country are
obliged to enter a ten-day quarantine immediately after entry.The current list of EU risk areas is constantly updated can be viewed at the RKI

An exception of the domestic quarantine exists for all volunteers of the Nordic World Ski Championships, because you are working at the realization of an international sports event.

The costs in case of quarantine (accommodation, etc.) will NOT be covered by the OC!

I come from risk area with virus variants. What do I have to consider when entering the country

*Registration prior to entry at https://www.einreiseanmeldung.de and carrying the document upon entry
*Confirmation of a negative Corona test, which was carried out at the earliest 48 hours before entry into Germany/ Bavaria.
* quarantine obligation of 10 days, which can be terminated by a negative Corona test after 5 days at the earliest.

Please inform yourself in advance if Germany/ Bavaria is a risk area for your home country. This might be a further quarantine for you after your trip home.

Accommodation

Can I stay overnight in Oberstdorf, even if there is a ban on accommodation?

Yes, this is an exception exclusively for volunteers, as this is not a tourist, but official overnight stay. Therefore, hotels, guesthouses, apartments, etc. are allowed to accommodate you.
You will receive an automatic confirmation of your assignment by mail soon.

The stay is only allowed during your assignment days (noted on the accreditation) minus max. 48h before (for testing and picking up the clothes)! This will be checked by the police and health department.

This exception is only valid for volunteers! Partners, friends, relatives, etc. have no official assignment and are therefore not allowed to be accommodated! This will be checked by the police and health department.

Will I get my money back if there is a ban on overnight stays?

Yes, if there is decided a ban on overnight stays, the accommodation is obligated to refund.

Will I get my money back if the event is completely canceled?

No, If the event is canceled but there is no ban on overnight stays, the organizing commitee can assume NO liability in that case. It is the volunteers risk. Please contact your accommodation if they are accommodating here.
